A review site that uses what it reviews
SaaS Insider is an independent publication covering newly launched software. Every review is hands-on, every verdict is scored.
SaaS Insider started with a simple frustration. New software launches every week and almost nobody has the time to actually try it. Most coverage is either a press release with a login button or a hype cycle that fades by Friday. We wanted something closer to what a print magazine used to give you: a reviewer who spent two weeks inside the product, a clear verdict, and no incentive to flatter the vendor.
How we review
Use it, properly
Every product is used by a real reviewer for at least two weeks, on real work. A demo call is not a review.
Score against fixed criteria
Ten criteria, weighted and published with every verdict, so a nine out of ten means the same thing in every category.
Compare honestly
We compare against software we have actually used, not spec sheets. If the category leader is untested, we say so.
Revisit as products ship
Reviews carry an updated date and are re-scored when a product changes materially. An old review is marked as such.
The standards
None of these are negotiable. They are the reason a score can be trusted at all.
- No paid reviews. Vendors cannot buy coverage, placement, or a score.
- No affiliate links in reviews. Money never touches a verdict.
- We disclose anything that would embarrass us if we did not.
- Corrections are published in the article itself, never as a quiet edit.
- What we did not test is named, not implied away.
The team
Mara Voss is the senior reviewer. Before SaaS Insider she ran engineering at a billing startup and wrote a column on indie software for five years. Every review is additionally edited and fact-checked, because a single reviewer with no second pass is how bad claims ship.
We are a small publication on purpose. That keeps the editing strict and the incentives simple.
